  • b. engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources.
  • c. promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.
  • d. model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.

Current Abilities
I have the ability to be creative in planning lesson plans. I believe children learn best when the teacher is interactive in their learning experience. Lesson plans should include involvement of all students, fun, and hands-on activities to allow the students to use their energy in a productive manner. I love to see students succeed and have fun in a classroom through different and creative ways teachers have invented in the learning environment. I am excited to challenge my creativity with using technology in our classroom in order to keep up with the technology our children are using.

Need- Why is there a need to improve in this area?
The first need in this area is because of the rapid advancement in technology and the second need for this area is to keep students engaged teachers need to be creative and out of the ordinary. Teachers should be willing to learn new technology so they are able to pass the technology knowledge and experience down to students. Children need to be able to explore real-world issues through digital tools and resources. It is also very important that a teacher understands students need face-to-face attention and this is something technology will not be able to give them. A teacher should still presume her role in a classroom as a main source of knowledge while using technology as just a tool.

Goal
My goal is to learn about new technologies to use in my classroom and in my lesson plans. I hope to find technologies that children use in their everyday lives that they will be able to use what we use in the classroom to everyday experiences.

Short Term Plan- What I will do during class
While attending the technology class at The University of Oklahoma I will take every opportunity to learn about technology. I will always make sure I understand how to use it. I will be engaged in smart board activities as well as other technological activities. I will take advantage of the help that is offered in order to gain all the knowledge that is available in order to bring this information into our classroom.

Long Term Plan- What I will do in the next year
I plan to meet with other professionals and teachers that are educated in technology to learn creative smart board activities such as attendance and ways to line up at the door in my classroom. I will use lesson plans using technology and form them into my own.

Assessment
I will know I have accomplished my goals when I have effectively used 20+ lesson plans that engage the students and also use technology. I will have others including other students and teachers to watch these lesson plans and give me feedback.
